We have been gathering information and stories since the Antigua mission team has returned to the U.S. and we're happy to share a recap:
- 61 volunteers spent June 25 through July 3 in Antigua, Guatemala on a medical mission with Medical Missions Foundation (MMF).
- This is MMF’s 12th mission into the region. The MMF volunteers set up shop at hospital Las Obras and clinic Nuestros Ahijados.
- Throughout the course of the mission, 196 patients were seen in the hospital clinic at Las Obras, 171 patients were seen in the Nuestros Ahijados clinic in Jocotenango for a total of 367 patients seen in the clinics. Common diagnoses in the clinic were musculoskeletal pain, eczema, viral issues- URI and UTI, worms and parasites.
- 100 hearing aids were fitted and given out by the audiology clinic.
- 75 surgeries were performed- including tonsillectomies, adenectomies, tympanoplasties, myringotmies, ethmoidectomies, adenectomies, myringotomies, endoscopic sinus surgeries, transurethral prostate resections, hydrocelectomies, and a nephrectomy.
